Lich

Of all the undead to come across, a Lich is the most dangerous.
The process of becoming a lich is a deeply guarded secret. As most of the time, people would destroy any research on Lichdom. However, through rigorous research, some advanced Wizards & Wizardesses can learn the process. What is known about the process is that the Lich must transfer its soul to an object creating a phylactery, and while this phylactery exists, a Lich is effectively immortal. When a Lich is destroyed, its body is reformed thanks to its phylactery, only when the phylactery is destroyed can a lich be truly killed. Because of this, a lich will spend a lot of effort into hiding and protecting their phylactery. Even if one were to locate the phylactery, destroying one is also no simple matter. Some can only be destroyed by legendary artifacts, while others require a specific circumstance to come to fruition before it can be destroyed. Because of this, the act of destroying a phylactery can be equally as dangerous as fighting a lich, if not more so. There have been few stories of those successful in destroying a phylactery, but the legitimacy of such stories are often called into question.
