The Order of the Silver Dragon

During the war between Strahd and his foes, the Order of the Silver Dragon sheltered Strahd’s enemies and proved more than a match for Strahd’s battle-weary soldiers. But the early victories of the order didn’t win the war. Even with Argynvost on their side, the knights were ultimately overwhelmed when Strahd’s reinforcements swept into the valley. Those forces slew the last of the knights while Strahd and his commanders battled the dragon inside Argynvostholt.
Centuries later, the knights of the Order of the Silver Dragon have been seen stalking the roads as undead revenants. One challenged Alimis to one-on-one combat on the Old Svalich Road, claiming that the town guard was "of no use to the order alive." This duel proceeded until the undead knight caught a glimpse of Ireena Kolyana nearby, and then very nearly killed her in a murderous, vengeful rage.
The Order of the Silver Dragon once had the reputation of being good and benevolent, an organization devoted to protecting the people of Barovia. What corrupted them?
