Mongrelfolk Belviews

The Belview family is a family of degenerate mad mongrelfolk that were transformed from normal humans by the Abbot at their request. Most of them now are chained up or imprisoned at the Abbey of Saint Markovia. Shortly after the Abbot came to Krezk, physically sick, he tended to their needs, determined to rid them of any imperfections. However, they saw not the human form as perfect but rather wished altered physiology, human mixed with the gifts of various animals. The Abbot capitulated in sympathy for the pitiful lot. The starting experiments were often lethal, but the Belviews didn't care and urged him on.
His efforts futile until aided by Strahd... The Abbot recognized him as a figure of ultimate evil, and had been continually unsuccessful in defeating him, yet Strahd provided the Abbot with furnishings and dark knowledge which allowed him to grant the demented Belviews their wish by transforming them into mongrelfolk. Mad and hideous, the Belviews were nonetheless happier.
