T’skrang give primary loyalty to their families, called nialls, or Houses. The niall is matriarchal, led by the eldest female in the foundation, called a lahala. A t’skrang village usually consists of between four and twenty nialls, who share responsibility for the focus of village life: the riverboat. Groups of Niall band together forming the aropagoi, or Great Houses. The aropagoi are lead be the most powerfull niall of the group from whom the aropagoi take their name. The leader of the Great House is called the Shivalahala. The aropagoi are the closest thing to a nation the t’skrang have built for themselves.
