Session 36: Scallywags: The Idiots WILL Come
General Summary
It is late, the 17th of Fall Feather, and the Scallywags travel to the Capital of the Scions, swiftly as their exhaustion sets in and worry of Rognur expounds.
Teyos and Jim have been traveling for a few hours, but E'krae will soon catch up with them. Aikhon and the Medusa soon join within this next day, for he leads her to the Call. He is lost himself, and then they find each other.
Rognur goes straight to the central tower of the Scions, and he willingly is captured, disarmed, and dragged before the matriarch of the lands, Auna's mother.
Meanwhile, the rest, Skiff, Roland, Ilknar, Brimstone, and Auna, go to a brothel Aikhon told them of, one they can lay-low at for a few hours of good rest. However, one of the Matriarch's children were already occupying many of the rooms, thus Auna was reluctant to join them. Brimstone stayed with her.
The hobgoblin is dragged up 200 ft of stairs to meet the Scion Matriarch, and her entourage. Atop her central tower, Rognur sees three large, 20 by 20 by 20 foot fire pits, where each one had ominous orc guards, in plate armor, with firearms, and silhouetted with bright firelight. Between the two western-most firepits, a large throne contructed of bone and metal stretches across 10 feet of stone. Sitting atop is looms a large orc woman, Vopaz the matriarch of the Scions. Next to her are two other orcs, another female orc in magical armor that allows her to float off the ground--one of the Matriarch's youngest daughers--and a larger male orc standing behind Rognur's truest sight, and this larger orc has two demonic sickles in each hand. A druidic leader, and Ugala Cromsoms was also present. The hobgoblin wife and Jakyr of the Orc people here was takenaback by her husband's arrival. She and he are able to convince the matriarch, who is very apprehensive and untrustworthy of Rognur, to all them to discuss, and of course neither goblinoid revealing their true relationships or intentions.
The other as the brothel get drink, arrange rooms, Roland needing his own private room. Skiff finds a female hobgoblin, young and escorted by two high-ranking Scion members. They have a brief conversation as Skiff moves s chair to play some Find the Matriarch (Blackjack) with some other orc members of the brothel audience and patronage.
Rognur and his wife break away under the flames and shadow of the large brass firepits of the Scions central tower. The fire roars and howls amongst the metal, allowing for the two hobgoblins to reunite with some peace and modified privacy--right in front of the leadership of the scions. Ugala is shocked at Rognur's arrival, his ability to be still alive, his resilience in his tasks over the last nearly two decades. They being to formulate plans, but Ugala is worried of her wayward daughter, and Rognur's arrival only complicates mattes even more. She puts her hand on his chest as a thank you and a good-bye, for she then convinces the Matriarch to allow him to stay, a now useful tool and knowledge-pool for her research and goals for the queen. They depart, and Rognur is locked below the tower, in the Matriarch pig-son's lauder.
Roland and Nethpione go upstairs, interrupt a pair of orcs in carnal bliss, and convince them to vacate a room they already booked. None of this was true, but it was created by the own tavernmaster's inability to control his own patrons. Throughout the night, they hear moans, groans, and the occasional chainsaw as they rest.
The group rests at the brothel, and Rognur in his new cell. Ilknar drinks, Roland rests in his own room, Skiff gambles and wins coin and a map to a treasure of Kurtalmak in the troolmoors far to the north, in the lands of the Skaldyr.
Rognur prepares this night his Final Annhilation--an ancient Cromsoms explosive device.
The next morning, the 18th of Fall Feather, the group at the brothel begins plans for Rognur's eventual escape and return, hoping he was fine throughout the night.
Rognur meets with his wife Ugala again, and she bring him some gruel for food, and his he slurps it down, they discuss how their daughter has become a Scion because of experiments and choices of Ugala, both genetic and emotional. He shows her the Final choice, his dice of annihilation, and he gives her the diamond and lichen of their home. She is put to a new invigoration, and she now hopes he can indeed stop the Scions, maybe not destroy them all, but allow their family to escape. He asks her to find their daughter, and even bring her unwillingly if needed. They agree, share and awkward hug, and they depart.
Outside, she finds Skiff, for the others have launched quickly this morning to find the Surgeon, Rognur. Now with his wife seeing them first, and with Skiff providing distractions by means of spider swarms in a jar and gold shared by he, the Luck Dragon of the Grey Coasts.
They break away, as Ugala sees her daughter approach, and selfish desires, mistakes, and confusion ignite more.
