Session 53: Scallywags: The King's Storming Canonagins
General Summary
Aboard the iced-deck, frost giant long ship, Ilknar rages yet again, and jumps to the mast, and as he does, Mila uses her arcane arts to latch onto his giant heritage even more, making him well over 30 ft tall, a gargantuan figure; he stands as a message to his forebears, and these giants before him now. He yells, Ilknar: I am the son of Hekaton, Storm King of the Seas and these Grey Coasts, and you will bow before your king.
Additionally, shots from the north, from other ships, fire in hopes of sinking a ship who may take their claim, their glory at the Star.
The zile, the trollkin, these medium sized creatures the same in height as most humas, elves, or even orcs--they are slaves to the frost giants and their jarl, he with a frosted greataxe. This jarl yells for his men, insensate it seems himself, to resist the call of the Storm King's heir, and some do, but a few do not, and they rise to aid Ilknar, attacking the troll ship overseers, those who used claw and whip against the zile oarsmen, and even their own king, where both sides barked of traitors and loyalty, and where all giantkin here only ever fought for their own life. Yet, Ilknar has challenged the established Ordning, and the others must either resist or apply. With the resistance here, this Jarl insensate from other magical means, all they can do is fight. Additionally, shots from the north, from other ships, fire in hopes of sinking a ship who may take their claim, their glory at the Star.
In these moments, the Call's shadow skirst overhead, hugging and nearly ripping the sails of this frost giant longship, Aikhon with great acrobatic skill swings with ropes and down giant sails to long on the stern of the frost giant's ship, and Dosgratin and Chatulkik attemp to follow after in the same grace, but only so much as to have a canon ball fall with dwarven density and a knife to dive with a mantis' spear. They tried, and with that, nonetheless, the reinforce the position of Roland and Valia, and with G hovering over head as well, as the Call flies away, the can begin to overtake the ship. Yet, not before three giantkin fling ice shards to the underbelly of the call, forcing cracks into and near the Call's inner elemental engines. Additionally, shots from the north, from other ships, fire in hopes of sinking a ship who may take their claim, their glory at the Star.
This is all that could be done, for with the reinforcments, and the claims of fear and resistance from the frost giants, this still was not enough for the might of Ilknar, the magic if Mila, and the speed, guile, and reinforcment from Aikhon, inspiring and dodging giants and allies, Roland shoving and oaring foes, Valia sawing and tinkering with canons and others, and G moving trolls and others with his mind: Valia launches herself via a canon, nearly exploding it and another zile, herself, and a frost giant along the way. However, this only lends to the intimidation and demand from the giant's prince to his new ordering, and even Chatulkik and Dosgratin distract the trolls long enough, and Chatulkik even takes more frost giant blood than allotted; nevertheless, the crew is successful. The shots cease, seeing need to regroup and reassess with a new player on the field.
After the fight, three frost giants remain: one who helped Ilknar and two who fought against he and his allies. Ilknar talks to one, and he asks him about what occured: their Jarl was taken with his son, when a kraken from the sky attacked them; only the Jarl returned, and he was never the same.
Eleven Zile mariners await to go home, but the giant ship is too badly damaged. The crew takes what it can for resources, and allows the giants, zile, and some new canons and storage.
It is then, after some hours of scavenging, that the crew finally approaches the Star, and they see the camps of the dwarves to the west, where their frost giants just came from, and they also see the Kings Fleet to the north, but beyond, another fleer retreats, seemingly to regroup, and then faces the Kings fleet again. This informations helps the crew see the need for more allies, so they set out to the Dwarves, hoping their new giant friends will not incite more animosity, and they lay flags of red out for the chances of parlay and peace, new allies, new hope.
