Session 79: Animaesus and Tarrasques: Spells, Hearts, Shadows
General Summary
There must be time for some rest before Amu and Birdman find the Shadow of the Beast within its gullet, and before Tenebris and Faurwiin begin a long trek of study to form new spells and identities. However, before this rest, Faurwiin takes time, while he helps Tenebris learn of a new similacrum spell, he takes the time to bring Alucard to his tower, to talk, but he uses the power of the 11th House Tower, as well as his own magics, to summon a image of himself to meet with Alucard, so he can invest his actual attention an prowress towards the goals for he and his apprentice.
At first he wants Alucard to go after Lasi, the wayward wizard who hunts for Pio, funded by the 8th House, Vear, to hunt the 10th House Binder Lord. Alucard disagrees, knowing he cannot face Lasi alone, so he asks for aid from Faurwiin. Thus, they pivot on ideas, and Faurwiin directs Alucard to spin his skills and resources in and around Pio and Vear, to redirect forces towards them, anger of Lasi and others towards them, allowing for the 11th House to figure out its full potential through that allotted time.
Faurwiin also provides his sons capabilites to assist with communication and scrying to find these answers. With this, a cloak, a displacer beast cloak, is given to Alucard to seal the deal.
The rest begins, and the next morning, the plans continue...
This next morning, through their various means--magical towers that can scry, and walking the beat and listening to the sounds of the street--they know the fear of the City and its people have intensified. The ballistae have been destroyed, completely. The Houses now guard their Districts, bases, and seals closest to the beast with fervent care.
Birdman goes early to the Herald's Tavern for some breakfast, and he brings some back for Gorgmongr and Amu, and he waits for them to awake. He also begins to scout the area to figure out how best to get inside the tarrasque, to find this Shadow of the Beast.
Faurwiin also spends this time to confer, a distant magical sending spell, with Mel, to let her know of developments with the 7th House, and to have her know he stands ready to assist hers should she need; the 12th house and the 11th House should present a strong alliance here within the City of Salt.
He also sends a message to Killian, and he learns that Killian will need aid beneath the City of Salt for his ventures in the tunnels and sewers. He also wants Killian to stay away from too much of the other moves. How did Quinnay die?
Someone convinced the ranas lord of the 2nd House to leave the safety of the 1st House.
Faurwiin utilizes his sons magical capabilites to extend these conversations. With this, he sends to Birdman asking him to assist Killian, but Birdman is too busy himself, preparing with Amu to find the Shadow of the Beast. The Sons are quite insistant, but they only prevail to leave that Birdman should meet with Faurwiin at the 11th House Tower later today at 6 pm.
Faurwiin must spend the better part of 10 hours, at least, researching a new spell he has devised. Thus, he sends his similacrum to begin to Contact and Outer Plane, to use deep magics and the weave to gain greater insight into the destinies and deities at play here in the City of Salt.
Faurwiin then sends Tenebris, before his apprentice gets wrapped upin his own research, to assist Birdman as he tries to enter into the Beast's body, so Tenebris leaves to the apartement. Once the shadarkai arrives, he confers with Birdman about the plan, and he spends much of the time to turn to the wall to speak to his Master Faurwiin. The words of power might be lost, though, so they begin to hatch another plan. Amu might be able to resurrect one, or both, of the Binder Lords. However, the words of power, those that bind the Tarrasque, they might be more powerful than even that spell--even if they were able to get ahold of the gold, the diamonds, to perform such a miracle.
Faurwiin thus wants Killian to focus more on Pio and those engagements, and they can move on plans to find the Shadow of the Beast, and to maybe answer some questions for Birdman.
Tenebris enables them to move past the guards around the Beast's Keep, and they then use Amu's magic to turn into raven's, to dive in through the nostrils. They then quickly sucked in by the breathing of the beast, that which has been shaking the city for way over twelve hours. They get separated in the two lungs, and they start to make their way through the blood vessels to the tissues around and through the heart. Once there, in the heart of the Beast, batlike creatures attack, attaching to faces, arms, and shoulders. Sucking blood from Amu and Birdman, mostly Birdman, while the elf Tenebris dances about destroying the small swarms.
Near the end of this, Tenebris and Amu are targeted by a disintegration spell, and the weasel dodges. Birdman is able to give chase and follow after the shadow, and he tries to persuade it, believing it to be Ssech. The voice responds, and it must be. But the shadow blends away, and they run back into the lungs, the breath of the beast still heaving. Yet, the shadow is gone. Tenebris turns invisible, and from behind them, and fireball explodes, hitting Amu, Birdman and Tenebris as the run the wrong way through a blood vessel. They turn around, and birdman catches a glimpse of the shadow, firing towards it. This alerts Amu, and the invisible Tenebris, and they engage. The shadow tries to stun, but Tenebris counters the magic, and then the shadow disperses through the flesh of the beast and it escapes away.
