Anviritic Palsy

I'm not sure right now which is worse, getting infected with Winterwaste and feeling as weak as a newborn babe, or this gods be damned palsy. I can't even cut my meat with my hand shaking so bad, and my other arm doesn't want to move an inch.   -Lagdom Bisonheart, chief of the Antelope Clan

Transmission & Vectors

Anviritic Palsy only strikes those who have taken it as a cure to Winterwaste. The herb seems to have no ill effects when used in other ways, so it is assumed that there is something about Winterwaste that triggers the reaction.

Symptoms

The main symptom of Anviritic Palsy is shaking. This is most apparently in the extremities, with hands and arms being most strongly affected. It can range from a slight, mildly inconvenient shaking to one that makes it near impossible to hold onto anything, or to stand for those whose legs are more strongly affected. A few have even found themselves unable to control much of their body at all, unable to do much but sit or lie down.   Some are also affected by a mild paralysis of one or more of their extremities. There have been a handful of cases where this paralysis has been stronger, but those have only been noted in people of advanced age.

Treatment

At this point, the only treatment is time. The palsy has never lasted past several days, and is usually minimized and/or gone in less than a week.

Prognosis

Prognosis so far is full recovery, although since the herb has only been used a short time to cure Winterwaste, this could change.

Prevention

The only prevention is not to take the herb when infected with Winterwaste.

History

This has only been a recent problem, so far as anyone knows, as it's the first time that the herb has been used for medicinal purposes.
