Iribani

History

Almost two millenia ago, the worship of Marticon was at its peak on much of Bastarre. Through a combination of conquest and proselytizing, it was the second most powerful religion, with only the worship of Hidhania being more popular. Even so, Marticon himself felt confident that within two or three decades, his would be the strongest influence in the world.
Much of the credit for the spread of his worship went to a high priestess by the name of iribani. She was remarkably intelligent, as well as incredibly ruthless, and she served also has the lead magistrate of the church. She was harsh and unforgiving, much like the god she worshiped, and the simple sight of her instilled great fear.
Eventually, Iribani made the decision to focus most of her attention on the rising worship of Lathair and Megiana. She had encountered more resistance as of late from the followers of the two gods, and knew that the best way to serve her god was, at that point, to fight against their respective churches.
It was an encounter with a powerful cleric of Megiana that was Iribani's undoing. The high priestess had taken too many chances and spread her forces too thin, and so when the enemy cleric struck, the wildly overconfident Iribani had no one close to aid her. As the cleric channeled the great power of her goddess, Iribania was struck down, destroyed utterly by the divine magic.
Marticon, not known to displays of emotion, grieved his favoured goddess, in part because it was inevitable that, with her loss, his power would diminish. Nevertheless, he desired to reward the priestess for her long and devoted service, and so he lifted her spirit into the skies, and she became the brightest star of a newly created constellation that became known as Adjudicator.
