Megiana's Wrath
While the opening of the Hellgates resulted in acts of blasphemy throughout the world of Bastarre, one event was so heinous that our great goddess of the storm Megiana felt compelled to display her displeasure in such a way as would never be forgotten. As devils and their worldly, sniveling followers gathered in the city of Stormfray, they marched upon the greatest temple to Megiana on Bastarre, carrying with them all they could find that represented the wrathful goddess. It was then that they gathered up the bulk of the city's population that was left, follower of the goddess or not, and proceeded to perform an act of torturous, bloody sacrifice such as the people had never seen.
As they set fire to the building, now filled with artifacts and symbols as well as people, the sky grew dark, the air crackling with fierce, violent energy brought on by the goddess herself. Before any could even think to escape, the lightning came, filling the dry air with arcs of electricity that destroyed all that they touched. Devils, followers, and the rest of the city flared up in a blaze to match, and then exceed, that of the defiled temple.
The storm lasted three full days, and after those three days, nothing was left but ash and ruin. No living being, no devil, no structure was left. Only ash could be seen save for one clear area where the temple once stood. To this day, the bright blue bolt of lightning, the symbol of the wrathful goddess, can be seen in place of that temple. While none dare venture into this now ruined place, those who fly above can easily see the glowing bolt, constantly changing as if alive, and leaving a glaring warning of what happens when one dares to anger her greatness.
-Katra Skysing, cleric of Megiana, as found in the historical annals of the temple
Manifestation
The storm was a flashing, electric blue attack from the skies, lighting the land in such a way as could be seen for many miles distant. Those who were unfortunate enough to be a mile or less from the city found themselves blinded permanently by the brightness of the lightning, and those further away were left with impaired vision for weeks after.
Localization
The storm filled the city of Stormfray at the foot of the Shatterspire Peaks, from end to end, corner to corner. Not an inch of the city was left untouched by the fury of the goddess, although the land beyond the walls was left unharmed by both lightning and fire.
