The Bloody Harvest
It is difficult to believe that there are those who wish to emulate and follow any sort of fiend. Most of us, and I believe this includes even people with an evil outlook, find the entire thought abhorrent, or at least distasteful. However, history shows us that there are individuals who feel an unconscionable attraction to this, and will do what it takes to gain the attention and favour of these hideously evil creatures.
One of the most disturbing tales of this is that of Gaurin Waythorn. Not content with approaching the fiends to offer his services and loyalty, he instead chose to engage in vile and unspeakable violence in an attempt to gain their attention. The weapon he chose was a scythe, perhaps fancying himself as a reaper, and it is said that simply through the actions for which it was used, the scythe was imbued with an evil that can only come from such heinous acts.
The scythe known as Bloody Harvest has been lost to time, and I fervently hope and pray that it is never found again.

Summary
The weapon that fittingly came to be known as The Bloody Harvest started out as a simple, non-magical scythe used to reap grain on a small farm owned by the Waythorn family in Tharza. It was a simple farm owned by good people, although the oldest son, Gauvin, was not content with a simple, dull life of a farmer.
His family noticed that he took a ghoulish interest in the invasion of the fiends. While they and others like them were fearful of what would happen to them and the world at large, Gauvin seemed excited by the events. His family chalked this up to a simple morbid interest, and did all they could to avoid gaining the attention of the devils. They felt fortunate that Tharza was not targeted as much as other countries, and that the fiends focused mostly on Tharza's larger settlements instead of the villages and farms.
Over the months, Gauvin grew more agitated at being on the periphery of what was happening, refusing to resign himself to staying with his family and maintaining the farm. His mind was focused on finding a way to get involved in some way, although he despaired of finding a means to do so. It was one fateful moment on one fateful day during the annual harvest when he snapped, starting his descent into what would become a maddened fervor.
Gauvin was in the fields with his younger brother Alam, brooding as he worked, when something his brother said made Gauvin strike out in anger. No one knows what it was that sparked the reaction that followed, but it mere seconds later, Alam was on the ground, his older brother striking him over and over again with the scythe until the ground was covered in blood and viscera.
While most would find themselves appalled by these actions, they invigorated Gauvin, who looked down at his brother's mutilated body with satisfaction and a raging bloodlust that had only partially satisfied him. It was then that he sought out the other members of his family, repeating the evil act with each one and exalting in the blood that covered him.
After the massacre, Gauvin remained on the farm only long enough to clean up and gather his things, taking a horse and riding off. He had found way that he found pleasing to gain the favour of the fiends, and the next months found him traveling from place to place, leaving terrible carnage in his wake. It wasn't long before he saw the recognition in the eyes of those he met, his blood-stained scythe making it all too obvious what his plans were.
In the present, while some might be able to recognize the name of Gauvin Waythorn, his name has faded from most stories. What most do remember, however, are the stories of The Bloody Harvest, the scythe that took on a life of its own. None know where the scythe might be, and there have been those who have searched for it for one reason or another, but none have discovered its location. One can only hope that it remains lost, never to be wielded again.
