You invoke the Wild Hunt upon a creature that you are familiar with. Speak a creature's name as you cast this spell and make a spellcasting ability check with a DC equal to 10 + the creature's CR. If the creature does not have a CR, use their level instead. On a failed roll, nothing happens and this spell slot is consumed. On a successful roll, you mark the creature with the infernal magic of the Third Circle.
Within the next 72 hours, two Hell Hounds will be conjured within a mile of the target and will begin the hunt. Unless the target is protected by a Protection from Evil and Good spell of a level equal to the slot used for this spell, the Hell Hounds know the creature's location. Nothing short of a lethal threat will deter the hounds, and even then they will use all means at their disposal to continue the hunt as soon as possible. Once the Hell Hounds reach their location, they will attack their target, until they or the target are dead.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a slot of 5th level or higher, the number of Hell Hounds summoned increases by 1 for every two spell levels above 3rd.
