Phantasmal Tale
5th level illusion
Casting Time: 1 Minute
Range: 30 feet
Components: V, M (A book of tales)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour
You begin telling a story, as you do, drawing one target you can see into it. Choose a target you can see within range. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw. A target automatically succeeds if it cannot hear or understand you. A target can choose to fail this save. On a failed save, the target becomes incapacitated and is unaware of it’s surroundings.
While you concentrate on this spell, the target becomes a part of the story you are telling, and experiences the events of it as if they were there. You may choose whether the target is an unseen observer, or witnessing the story from the perspective of one of the entities within it.
The spell ends if the target leaves your range, can no longer hear you, takes damage, or if you stop telling the story.
If the target is incapacitated for the entire casting time of this spell, you may choose any two of the following effects, which last for an hour as long as you remain concentrating:
- The target may immediately gain the benefits of a short rest.
- The target gains 3d10 temporary hit points.
- The target may prepare new spells for the day.
- The target becomes charmed by you for 1 hour.
- Whenever the target makes an attack roll or ability check, it rolls 1d4 and subtracts it from the damage rolled.
- Whenever the target regains hit points within the next minute, it gains the minimum amount of hit points from the source.
