Lyom Brizine

Layton Hatch

Lyom Brizine was an infamous mass murderer, one of quite a few from the Antebellum Period of the old empire. The details of the manhunt that eventually brought him down remain vague. While his body is reported as having been found by the authorities of that era, but no drawings or physical descriptions of his cadaver have been found in the centuries since. Some wonder if it has something to do with the significant connections his family had inside the Spectral Church. After all, the church themselves have been known to distance themselves from scandals surrounding heinous actions of their individual members before, who's to say they wouldn't have done the same with Lyom?

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Lyom was a young elf who had been of a schlubby disposition throughout his youth. By the time he was old enough to join the ranks of the priesthood, he had already begun to carry a bit of a gut, and wore a heavier slouch than men twice his age.    After going on his infamous tear through the countryside in the weeks before his death, he only grew more wild and more malnourished. Near the end, one could plainly see his bones shifting beneath his pale flesh, as he began to take on an unnerving animalistic gait that saw him bear crawling across farmer's fields on bare hands and feet.   Just a few weeks ago, this unimpressive physique would have been Layton's most noticeable physical characteristic. But now were are here, and instead of a right arm, the speller now has a vaguely arm-shaped mass of spindly, twisted wood.   By the time he made to join the ranks of the priesthood, the elf was already carrying a slouch and pronounced beer gut, despite his age.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Lyom was born to the once-wealthy Brizine family, a middle child of rather sickly demeanor. He was physically unremarkable throughout his adolescence, which singled him out as a stooge amongst his peers. By the time he made to join the ranks of the priesthood, the elf was already carrying a slouch and pronounced beer gut, despite his age.    The first time he got a taste of power would be one of his last, when his chapel came into possession of an artifact - an ancient wand of momentous power. Something in the wand spoke to Lyom, appealing to the many horrid aspects of his nature. It was as if his prayers for respect and dominion over others had been answered.   He made off with the wand in the dead of night, and with it he carved a barbed-wire path of murder and mayhem across several territories. It was as he had become the wand itself, losing whatever redeeming qualities he might have had and transforming into a gruesome cog in the grand mechanism of fate.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

All his life, Layton had sought power, and very rarely was he ever able to wield it. When the wand gave the foolish speller his first taste of true 'power', he held it tight and never let go.
