Soul frog

When a rift appears, connecting the Primal Plane with the Heaven of Water, an army of ghastly white frogs are the first to break through. Draw by the evils lurking in the hearts of men, these creatures, known as Soul Frogs, set forth on a self-assigned crusade to restore ballance to the scales of morality.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Soul frogs are large amhibians averaging 50 centimetres in length. They possess thick pale-white skin covered in small bumps. The soul frog's connection to the Heaven of Water allows their skins to stay magically hydrated no matter how hot it gets. When aggrivated the soul frog makes a low humming sound, similair to the reving of an engine.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The tongues of soul frogs are ethereal, allowing them to lash the soul. They feast on moral decay rather than bugs, purifying the soul with each whip of the tongue. They are naturally drawn toward the evil and wicked, and are commonly used to explain why a tyrant suddenly lets go of power or why the wealthy suddenly donate their money to charity.
When feeding on a heart the soul frog might accidentaly lick up a bit of the good and the strange that makes up the soul. Soul frogs are unable to digest these positive and neutral energies, and extrete them out in the form of a multi-coloured miasma. A whiff of this miasma introduces a strange state upon the mind, causing one to remember their most joyful memories, and to behave as if under the influence. A jar of this miasma can fetch a high price upon the black market.

Average Intelligence

Despite their diminitive state, a soul frog is as inteligent as any adult human. The brightest soul frogs have been compared to philosophers, asking question about the nature of the Heavens and the universe at large. However, often soul frogs let themselves be lead by their stomachs, and they are easily tricked with promises of wicked souls to whip back into shape.
