The Blooding

The Blooding is the eating of the heart of a great lizard kill by a youthful warrior of the tribe.

History

When the Centaurs arrived on the Great Windswept plains on the eastern continent of Bavo'sand, and discovered the great lizards that were spread across them. The centaurs relied upon the Lizards for providing, food, shelter and materials for building many day to day items. They also became part of the rituals of the Centaurs and were seen as a gift of nature for them. The centaurs either before the great migrationm had the believe that the consumption of a heart of a great creature would give the eater a portion of the creatures strength, and obviously there was nothing greater than the these large lizards creatures on the plains.
Over time it became not just something that they followed, but a requirement for any member of the tribes to be counted as Warrior, that they both needed to hunt one of the great Lizards and eat the heart. Some either believed that the heart should be uncooked and raw but many tribes have over the generations moved away from that truly savaged believe, but not all.

Execution

When a young centaur believes their are ready to become a warrior of the tribe, they can seek out the tribal shaman, who will mark the youth with runes of power and send them out to hunt a great lizard solo, with just their weapons and wits. No other can help them for this quests, they have to stand on their own against the greatest creatures on the plains.
If they succeed to bring down one of the lizards, they then have to cut out its heart, cook it and eat it to gain the respect of their tribes and to be called a Warrior by them. They often taken bones and hide of the creature to make reminders of their first and greatest hunt.
