The Spies of the Forest
To most outsiders who are unfamiliar with the Tewledandar Forest, a crow is just a crow - a noisy blackbird skulking around foraging for scraps of meat or small insects, or swiping shiny objects to decorate its nest.
To the elves however, they are a true test of their commitment to honouring all the living creatures of the forest; for the High Elves also believe that the rebels who lurk in the forest use the crows as a means of spying on the royal family and other influential people in elvish society.
It is understood that the rebels have manipulated the ancient art of woodsinging to influence the nature of the crows so that they are predisposed to observing and reporting on activity while still exhibitng normal behaviours.
