Arakocra (Air-ah-cock-ra)

From below, Arakocra resemble large eagles or hawks. They spend their time flying through the skies, though they can walk just as easily as a Human. Arakocra are the birdpeople. They are an intelligent species that walk upright and have arms and hands, but their legs end in sharp talons. They have large wings that support them when they fly. Their bodies are covered in large elegant feathers in various shades of white, black, brown, or even red and orange.

People rely on the Arakocra to deliver messages and small packages all across Belothar and they are compensated heavily for this labor. Many kings and nobles employ Arakocran soldiers to send military messages to troop encampments or other kingdoms. Their services are vital.

While Arakocra have no qualms about working among other species, they tend to keep to themselves in colonies and don't integrate their personal lives with other species at all. They have never been known to intermarry with other species. They prefer warmer weather and will migrate south for the winter, leaving only some young, strong, and unmarried males and females behind to keep up with the messaging duties on a volunteer basis.
