The War of Stolen Hearts

The War of Stolen Hearts is so known by the (Eliarku Empire) in reference to the lost family and friends that were drafted into the Warforged program. It is commonly known as simply "The Great War" by other kingdoms in Belothar who had no connection to it. Eliarku was one of two major players in the war. Each side had strong alliances and made strategic deals with other countries involved to try to overwhelm each other. Nine years of conflict brought about great discoveries in the realm of magic. Those discoveries remained hidden from the general public until a whistleblower came out over a year after the war and shook the world with the information. He produced a rather large document with many sources of information on this new magic and how it's used that was copied and spread throughout most corners of civilization.

The Origins

Long before The War, Eliarku was a part of the nation of Aktey. Aktey granted Eliarku their independence in order to quell the rising tensions between them with the understanding that they would be working together to better the lives of both nations. For many years, they lived together in peace; Aktey protected Eliarku with their military forces and Eliarku in turn provided vital resources that Aktey couldn't produce alone. Eliarku, however, was unhappy with this arrangement. They felt it was unfair that they had to provide Aktey with valuable resources in exchange for a military presence they would rather supply for themselves. They started training up great warriors. Even though their numbers were still few, when Aktey found out about the warriors, they were full of rage and fear. Assuming that Eliarku was planning to rise against them, they were intimidated by the growing empire and wanted to keep them weak. As a result, tensions rose between the two nations and unrest grew ramapntly. Eventually, the Eliarku decided to take matters into their own hands and thus, the Warforged were born.
