Golden Grimoire of Balphdurin

There are many a tome written on the subject of enchanting, many people have all come up with their own methods to put magic into an item. These people all stand on the shoulder of a giant in the field of enchanting, ironically enough this giant is a kobold, or rather he was when he lived. One of the most important figures of Xoln, the one who founded the city Balphdurin was one of the first Kobolds to accept the dragon's offer to join their empire, this is where he learned and refined his natural talent for enchanting. His Grimoire is his magnum opus, the sum of his knowledge on enchantment, his knowledge magically transcribed into a grimoire whose pages are solid gold and the binding a mix of the Arcgorzen metal and shed dragon scales, a large empty socket about the size of an apple is in the very center of the book with angular designs made of a thin crystal substance coming off the housing, we would describe these designs as looking like circuitry. This is widely considered to be the first tome written on the subject of enchanting and all methods of enchantment stem from his teachings.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Golden Grimoire of Balphdurin is enchanted in ways that should be impossible by common practices in the current era, all of its pieces are linked together but only function when together. They can block scrying attempts but also allow them to succeed seemingly at random, even dragon fire wouldn't be able to harm the grimoire.   Despite the relatively small size of the grimoire its pages contain all of his knowledge, once together they will see writing in every direction layered on top of each other. It takes a special mind to be able to pick out information like this but there is another way to observe the knowledge, it does however require something quite rare, a memory stone, preferably a blank one. If the stone is placed within a slot on the front of the grimoire a projection of Balphdurin himself will become an interactive projection of the knowledge of the Grimoire.

Significance

This is THE book on enchanting, it has all the answers anyone could hope to find on the subject of enchantment. If all the pages can be restored to it so the complete knowledge of Balphdurin is available to the one who holds the grimoire, should they be able to decipher it.
There are 13 pieces of the Golden Grimoire of Balphdurin the whole cover and the 12 golden pages. There are rumors that four of the pages are currently in the possesion of four different people. As to where the rest are located no one is quite sure.

Rarity
There is only one Golden Grimoire of Balphdurin, and now the grimoire itself is said to be broken apart. Captured or discovered during the dark ages its discoverers found they couldn't harm the pages, no fire, no spell, no blade could even so much as scratch the book itself. So they took the pages and spread them out as either a trophy or something to offer to wizards who sought to gain from the downfall of the dragons and become the masters of magic.

The grimoire was assembled through an act of enchantment supposedly Balphdurin was able to do so just by having the materials on hand and used his magic to make the grimoire, and then enchanted as an act of immense willpower. Though most assume enchanting tools were used.
