Grey Wyrms
Structure
While the numbers of the Grey Wyrms are still small the structure is informal with the leader being the Greyarch and the rest simply being Grey Wyrms. In ancient times, there were several ranks within the organization. Greyarch was the highest, followed by the Reclaimers, Heralds, Guardians, and Grey Wyrm.
Greyarch: The head of the order who knows most of the lore of the order and their unique rites and practices. They often advise the Tyrannus on the more spiritual nature of the Cycle of Rebirth.
Reclaimer: Those usually responsible for gathering the remains of a dragon who has passed or will guide them to a graveyard for them to die in. They often have a retinue of other members of the Grey Wyrms acting as teachers to them.
Hearlds: These are the ones who travel the most seeking out those dragons who wish to pass on, or tracking rumors of the final resting place of a dragon outside of an established graveyard, or finding a lost graveyard. They can be compared to questing knights in other cultures as they take on a goal and seek it out.
Guardian: The defenders of a graveyard, or at least the mortal ones. They help maintain the other defenses of a dragon graveyard and safeguard the remains as they diminish and vanish as the cycle continues.
Culture
The Grey Wyrms not only believe in the Cycle of Rebirth but do everything in their power to keep it working as it is meant to. Belief is perhaps the wrong word to use because they know it exists, and know it is a vital part of the life of a dragon on Habrea. Their calling is to aid the Cycle until it is time for them to join it themselves.
Grey Wyrms are usually only seen among themselves unless tending to their duties, even among the dragons the prospect of death can be intimidating often leading to Grey Wyrms living isolated lives. There are no rules saying they cannot have offspring or families but their duty to the Cycle is their highest priority for through the Cycle their family will continue to exist past their current life.
Public Agenda
The preservation of life by ensuring the transition of death and rebirth remains undisturbed. The Grey Wyrms are not involved in the political games of others, while they are still present within the structure of draconic society they are usually less interested in climbing the ranks for their own ego but to be able to have more influence to achieve their goals. A dragon of higher standing can use their influence to gather followers to aid them when needed. Their needs are often scholarly and alchemical. Their knowledge of death and life has also led them to be some of the most learned healers of the Empire and are known to send their followers with that knowledge to act as healers to the sick and wounded of the Empire.
Disbandment
The order was never officially disbanded but the last of their members died near the start of the Dark Age, whether by the dragon hunters or during the failed coup of the Ashen King remains unknown. The spirit of the last Grey Wyrm lingered waiting until a knew dragon hatched with the Oroborus birth sign came again to the world, in this case, it was Amhra'Shaelaas. With the guidance of this lingering spirit, the order has rekindled the order itself having undergone death and rebirth.
