Hatchday, Xolnite Kobolds
Execution
This varies from family to family and even the orchestrators themselves, some are family-friendly celebrations while others would most certainly be classified as adult-only bordering on debaucherous. Each family has some form of tradition they do for these celebrations, even if it is just a spot that all family hatchdays are celebrated on.
Components and tools
An important component of the celebration is that all the food must be made from scratch to show that the people throwing the party do care about the one being celebrated. While Xoln can produce all the food that would be needed via their magical means it shows deeper care for something to be made the old fashioned way. This almost always takes the form of Zipplefruit cakes, tarts, or other treats as a celebratory dessert with the meal being mostly meat with vegetables. Aside from the zipplefruit and meat the components of the meals such as flour can be gathered from magical means but the core parts are best 'real' to do otherwise is to show that you don't care about the person.
Participants
A Hatchday in Xoln is attended by the extended family of the one celebrating and their friends and optionally the friend's family. So many kobolds can turn up to these events that most hatchdays are held in the grand plazas of the surface of Xoln or just outside the city. Given the population of Xoln, there is nearly always a birthday celebration of some sort going on.
There are only a few key roles to the celebration, the one whose hatchday is being celebrated of course, as well the orchestrators, who are the parents of a young kobold, the best friend(s) of an adult kobold, or the mate(s) and or children of a kobold should that be applicable.
A rarely encountered tradition is to have a guest of honor in the form of a family friend that isn't a kobold, this could be a Drazgor, Drazgorra, a Dragon, or any race though it becomes rarer the further that list goes on.
Observance
On the anniversary of the Hatching of the kobold every year until they die. The scope of the celebration is far more flexible as some may want only a small gathering of those most important to them.
