Law of Promise
The Law of Promise is a truth that not all are willing to believe, just as curses have power behind them so too does a promise. The Law of Promise is one that applies to everyone from the king to pauper, the law itself is simple: A promise made is a promise kept. When an oath or promise is made you bind yourself to whatever the oath or promise was. Failure to uphold the promise results in repercussion, largely based on the reason for failure. Should the person who made the promise be unable to complete it due to circumstances not of their own fault, the repercussion is minimal often in the form of bad luck for a couple of days. Willful negligence of duty or breaking a promise, however, comes at a much steeper penalty, this can include ironic curses issued by Bossae or in some cases even inevitables becoming involved depending on the scope.
The Law of Promise is even more important to those magically inclined, magical beings rarely make promises because when they do, they absolutely must fulfill their promise to not do so is against their nature. Scorathi spell casters take to this belief, while some Tavori does as well many view it as yet one more thing they can get around by using their magics and methods.
Manifestation
At times when a promise is made a mark can appear on the person(s) who took the oath or made the promise this can appear as a birthmark, tattoo, or other means up to the DM. The point is to serve as a reminder of the oath and promise.
A broken oath or promise will see the mark on them turn into a faintly glowing brand or even a scar that resembles a whiplash across their body. They are attention-getting and vary in size based on the gravity of the oath/promise broken. A paladin who breaks their oath would have a large brand or scar over their body that nothing short of redemption can heal. This leads to people often not trusting heavily scarred people and especially those with a glowing brand on them for it marks them as a betrayer.
