Meldarii
The true origin of the elves, known as Meldarii. These were the original fey spirits that found their way into the world after the birth of the dragons. They were the first non-dragon civilization even if they were a very small population never over 1,000 members. Early in the world during the Proto era, they had a thriving civilization until the first few hundred years of the Seeding era. When the Prime elemental of water offered the Meldarii it's blessing the vast majority of the race accepted leaving only 100 unaltered Meldarii as the Anrasha were altered.
This became the death blow to the Meldarii as the race themselves projected a passive field of life energies, these energies caused plants to grow from where there was nothing, as well as supported the functional immortality of the race as a whole. With too few remaining to maintain this field, the Meldarii began to quickly slow down as they lacked energy, and eventually fall into a coma and die shortly after. The dragons took notice of this and began trying to aid the Meldarii and put a number of their race into a magical stasis, but even this was not enough to sustain them. Finally, Emelth'Jevrath came up with the only solution left, to bind them into the arcane, replacing the need for the fey energies with that of the arcane. Thus the Mist Elves came to be, some still go by the name Meldarii but most refer to them as mist elves based on the cloud of mist that surrounds them at all times.
