Stonethrall Stronghold

The wandering stronghold of the long-lost Stonethrall bloodline the former ruler of what is now known as Bardin's Ruin. No matter how many treasure hunters have tried to map where this stronghold is it is always somewhere else when they return. A common thread is that it can only be found during a blizzard and seemingly only stumbled across.
Bardin Stonethrall was a very rich dwarven lord who made a great show of his wealth for all visitors that he thought were worth having. The legend goes that he refused a vagrant entry to look upon his riches. That vagrant was actually a powerful fae who cursed Bardin Stonethrall and his stronghold to never again have a willing visitor. The actual wording of the curse has been told and retold so many times that no one knows the actual criteria for the curse. While the fae who issued the curse is undoubtedly still around the question would be more if they cared to reverse it or even remember doing so.

Historical Basis

Bardin Stonethrall was a dwarven lord in charge of the area now known as Bardin's Ruin, his stronghold and its wealth vanished and has only been rumored to have been stumbled across. A few adventurers tell of a stronghold they found in a blizzard and bring a trinket bearing the symbol of the Stonethrall line. Despite several attempts to follow up on where the adventurers were to reclaim artifacts for the dwarves these expeditions always fail leading most to assume they stumbled across a few scattered trinkets randomly.

These legends rarely make it outside of dwarven circles or those close to the dwarves, they don't like to spread the idea that they managed to mispalce a keep and a wealth of gold.
