A relatively new creation that is easier to produce than airships but still an expensive option for the problem of travel. There are three classes of Striders, Wanderer, Hauler, and Fortress, there are different design names for these three classes. A strider can be operated with clockwork mechanisms or magic, in some examples elementals can be bound into the strider much like some golems.
Wanderer Class
A Wanderer class strider has a body around 10-20 feet long, and 5-10 feet wide with four legs in total, the legs adding another 10 feet to the width. They are designed to be mobile homes for those on the road often. They have a small living quarter that is insulated with a bed. Most of the body is dedicated to the mechanisms that drive the strider and storage for things like water or food. They have a movement speed of 60 feet a round (roughly 7 mph) while they are not very fast they carry a large amount of weight due to the living structure and a maximum of 3,000 pounds of extra material in cargo without magical assistance.
Hauler Class
A Hauler class can be 20-60 feet long, and 25-45 feet wide, this class has a set of legs every 20 feet at the minimum but can be built to have more which helps support more weight. With a max speed of 30 feet a round (roughly 3.5 mph), they are designed to haul massive amounts of cargo to transport 6,000 tons. However, it is rare for them to be so heavily loaded, as it drastically reduces the speed and maneuverability.
Fortress Class
There has only been one reported type of this strider it was a mobile castle created by the Dragon Hunters of Rhyderia of the Dark Ages. Fortress Dravengaurd was destroyed moments before the Cataclysm began. It was an enormous investment and the knowledge on how to create it was lost along with the Fortress itself as the creator died inside it trying to maintain its workings even as it crumbled around them.
