Tavern Vine
Tavern vine is the name for the plant that produced Flagon fruit. The reason for this name is that the fruit is actually a pod that holds very potent antisceptic alcohol. It is used in field medicine to disinfect and clean wounds, it is also used in the production of Brume as one of the more effective alcohol mediums for the drug.
Tavern Vine can grow in any temperate climate but like partial shade, the flowers resemble a lily with the pods further back on the stem usually in the shade if possible. The alcohol keeps bugs away from the plant and most animals won't eat it either. In a healthy plant, the stem and vines are a dark green that can cling to most surfaces. The flowers can vary in color based on the kind of nutrients they are getting from the environment, red for example usually means a high iron content.
Despite the name of the pods it is unhealthy to consume the contents of the pods in some cases being enough to blind the drinker. Dwarves being an exception have taken to drinking it for fun even having farms growing it for both medical purposes and recreational. The Dwarves say it has a different taste based on region but only they can claim to consume it often enough to come up with such an idea.
It is a common staple for most adventuring parties that wander into the forests to harvest some of these pods as they can prove invaluable when treating inevitable wounds and can be sold when back in town to apothecaries. If a pod is properly harvested, as in not breaking it, and the contents transferred to a more permanent vessel it will keep for years. The pod itself will eventually break apart without nutrients but doesn't rot as the alcohol kills the bacteria.
What a fun addition to your world!
