The Gala

Every year on the 8th of Skywhale's song The Gala is officially observed. The amount of time the event runs varies among the various cultures. Some have a week of celebration and others two or three days in addition to the actual day. The gala is the holy day of the Virtuoso. It is a day for indulging in art of all kinds, many choose to go to plays put on in great theatres or humble street corners. Galleries that usually only show famous masterpieces instead promote local artists.
Many artists will save much of their effort in the year to create something worthy of the Virtuoso's attention for this event. While the Virtuoso loves to watch mortals it is on this day that artists try to be noticed by the god.

Execution

The clergy of the Virtuoso will hire bards to go far and wide to hearld the return of the Gala. They also encourage any and all to come visit. To see plays and partake in concerts, art galleries, and everything artistic. Bring your own art to be discovered the Virtuoso accepts all art. The different venues of art such as playhouses and theatres are free admittance during this event. So that everyone might enjoy the art of life.

Participants

The major participants are artists of all walks, as art takes on all forms under The Virtuoso. From the gladiators who make a show of their fights. Leatherworkers creating wonderous saddles, bags, or other wares. Anything that is the product of a sense of artistic flair is all fair game for The Gala.

Observance

The 8th of Skywhale's song is the offical date of The Gala. In larger cities the celebration will often go on for a week sponsored by the owners of galleries and patrons of the arts. Often those who sponsor the arts are hoping to gain something from it as well.
