The Mage Factions

Within Belthuran there exist many factions of mages usually they are small groups of like-minded mages doing research or perfecting their craft together. They all fall somewhere in the spectrum that is the two major factions: The Tavori and Scorathi. It is possible to exist somewhere in the middle but such groups are rare and tend to keep to themselves to not be involved in the politics and turmoil of the two factions.

Hostility

The two factions are opposed to each other on fundamental levels and as such there are far too many examples of animosity between the two factions to count. This most often comes across as derogatory comments about the other two common examples being Tavori Tyrant and Scorathi Scum but those are hardly the limit of their hostilities. The sad truth is the more radical elements of both factions are the real problem often striking against each other either directly or indirectly. Some Scorathi believe that the Tavori organize the witch hunts in small or isolated villages that kill innate casters as witches and evil beings. While some Tavori believe that the Scorathi unleashes Arcane Storms and other natural disasters to harm their interests.

When starting as a magic casting class you should consider which side of the argument the character falls on, and tailor their casting style to fit in with the faction you've chosen. (Your DM may allow you to change the casting stat of your class to reflect your choice. Tavori: Intelligence Scorathi: Charisma.)
