The Runes
What you know
The runes within the world of Beyond Ragnarok are something that everyone is aware of. Their meanings are known by all races, but their power has been the domain of the Gods only. Humana, Alfar, Svartalfar and the Jotunborn have been using them for the purpose of writing with, or to call upon their meanings for aid such as in prayer, or in argument.
The use of them for magical purposes however, has not been known, and has been the domain of the Gods only, rarely shown to mortals.
This all changes when the way to Midgard; the Bifrost, is opened once again, and a unit of representatives from all four higher realms travel to the Hel Blighted Land (prequal event). It is there that the magical methods used with the Beyond Ragnarok game are revealed.
The Symbols
There are 24 runes, all with their own names, associated letters, associated meanings, and associated Gods.
The 24 runes are divided into three sets of eight, for reasons lost to time. The sets are named after the most prominent God associated with the first rune of each of the sets.
