Accessibility & Inclusivity

Site Accessibility

The Bispham Hall scout camp is a site with a number of different terrains. We have relatively flat ground open fields, undulating fields as well as dense woodland and glades, all of which are maintained by site staff.

The OC field, and the IC camping fields are on relatively flat open field (slight slope). The ground is thick grass, and there are several paths into the area. However, certain areas are susceptible to damage due to footfall, weather and the use of tractors on site for moving kit on and around the field.

Note: This site is not recommended for wheelchair users
Site Access Map

The Site Access Map provides guidance as to the type of terrain and the accessibility of certain areas of the site. This map has been generated based on available information regarding the condition of the site and previous experience of the site itself. However, it is worth noting that everyone's experience and capabilities are different and what some may perceive to be fine, others may not.

We ask that anyone considering attending the event consider the Site Access Map as guidance only and use your best judgement as to whether to attend.

As weather is a severe contributing factor to the conditions on site, please check the weather forecast for the weekend, when making your consideration.

Accessibility and Inclusivity

We feel that everyone should be able to participate in this awesome hobby, and have attempted to put in a number of measures in place in order to enable inclusivity as much as we can. With relation to Beyond Ragnarok, we have included the following in order to facilitate inclusivity in the game:

  • Plot: The plot is written in such a manner that players can steer it in whole new directions in unexpected ways. The plot we write allows for the possibility for anyone to change the outcome and direction of the story, and make great impact on the world. Sometimes bartering, conversation, understanding, and acting quietly from the shadows can have more of an impact on the world than up front with a sword and shield.
  • Skills and Abilities: A number of skills and abilities in game allow you to participate and contribute to the game without having to get involved in combat, travel out to the wider field, or for the need to be loud.
  • Prospecting/Wilderness Lore: Accessible resourcing locations will be set up around the main camp areas. These area and resources have been uniquely marked so that they are distinguishable from other areas/resources. This marking also allows us to track who is gathering which resources to ensure that it is fairer for anyone involved in this aspect of the game.
  • Non-Combat / Non-Contact (NC) Sashes: We can provide NC Sashes to those who are non-combat and/or non-contact. For more information, check out Non-Combat & Con-Contact
  • Non-Com Monsters/Roles: Everyone likes to get involved in plot, either as a player, or facilitating plot for others. During Realm monster slots, Non-Com roles are also frequently available. These will be announced in advance of the event when Realm Monster Slots are communicated via the Realm Facebook groups

If you have any suggestions for additional ways to make Beyond Ragnarok more inclusive, please feel free to contact us. We are always willing to listen to suggestions, but please do not be offended if you do not see them implemented, as a number of factors can affect the possibility to implement new changes
