Basic Information

Anatomy

It is a gigantic mushroom that has stalks that come out forming other mushrooms. it's "wood" is very soft and squishy like thick sponges and tough like stone.

Genetics and Reproduction

when the winter season is near its end, it will shoot out spores out of the pores of the mushrooms and they will spread on anything that is rotting or empty or sometimes on other plants nearby. before the moon mushroom can begin to produce its sap it must be at least 20 years old and has begun to grow smaller mushrooms on its stalks/arms.

Growth Rate & Stages

They are somewhat slow to grow at first. But after 20 years has passed for it to mature, they can grow very rapidly. Ex: if you were to cut off a branch, it would regrow the branch within a few days and it would be much stronger than before.

Ecology and Habitats

They prefer to be around an environment that allows them to get the moon's light as much as possible and near water.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They decompose things that are nearby for food and also moonlight and they will grow their roots to the nearest source of water, no matter how far away it is.

Domestication

Gnoman farmers have grown Moon Mushrooms for many generations for it's sap/jelly that has many great medical properties that relaxes the user and calms them, making them euphoric.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

They are farmed for its moon jelly that can go for a large price.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

they are mainly found on the southeastern region of Palpagania where there are underground bodies of water within caves their roots have digged down into for drink.
Lifespan
They don't necessarily "age" or "die" but they do reach a stage of "hibernation" when it lacks in food and water, becoming hardened like stone and retracting into a ball awaiting for sustenance. They can stay in this stage by technically eating themselves

They reach around 40-80ft tall but the tallest recorded is around 158ft tall.
Average Weight
They are somewhat lightweight compared to trees, a 40ft tall mushroom can weigh around 100-300 lbs.
Average Length
Their caps can go from a 50ft diameter to some being 200ft in diameter.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Their necks and roots are from white to, grey or black in color and their cap can come in any color depending on the amount of moonlight and what they consume.
