sezichyi (/seˈzici/)
The sezichyi, or trihorn antelope, is an unusually omnivorous hoofed mammal. The reason the trihorn hunts are unclear. While the Scions are not aware of any creature being engineered during the Third Age, they admit that it is possible.
The sezichyi, as indicated by the "trihorn" name, has three horns. More specifically, the males have two spiral horns with a center, straight horn. The females do not have horns, sporting a short, bristly mane that crests the head and follows down the length of the neck. Due to the interference the horns cause when chasing their preferred prey (the large, rabbit-like seisidu) in and out of tight underbrush and even rocky dens, the females are the hunters of the species. The males use the horns for defense and for competition for mates. The trihorns also eat leaves, berries, and scrub grasses.
The trihorn antelope live primarily in the Untsadpa Mountains. They compete with and are sometimes hunted by the wider-ranging tinaukaida (mountain tiger), whose primary range is the Tivotay Mountains. However, as the seisidu ranges only in the Untsadpa Mountains, competition is uncommon.
The sezichyi is revered among the Yibiduri as a symbol of strength, agility, and overcoming adversity. They survive in the rocky terrain and scrub of Untsadpa, a species which, by rights, should not be able to survive on the limited resources the mountain provide. They are able to hunt animals a fraction of their size that can get into spaces most animals the size of the trihorns would not even try to get into. They able to defend against and even kill the more powerful mountain tigers. The females are the hunters and fighters, reflecting the Yibiduri tendency to give women more power than men. For these reasons, the head-on trihorn face of the sezichyi male and the maned profile of the female are used as a symbols of strength.
