Dawnfolk

The Dawnfolk are a transient quasi-ethnic society. Known mostly as merchants, entertainers, or Seers, they are a welcome temporary addition to any community. Their traveling carnivals, exotic wares, and mystical reputation are always of interest to peasantry.

The true Dawnfolk are indeed, an ethnicity. Their lineage can be traced back across the ages, or so they say. There are, however, many members of their society who are not hereditary, but rather adopted or assumed Dawnfolk, called The Kindred. It seems likely that the vast majority of Dawnfolk are in fact not genetically related whatsoever. Despite this, the leadership structure (only observed loosely, as they operate and move in small groups) seems to be constrained to the "pure" Dawnfolk. It appears the Seers originate from this caste as well.
