Hedgebird
Hedgebirds are little feathery mammals native to the Walls of Eirean that are often kept as pets in many parts of the world. Their curious and clumsy personality makes them a prime subject for funny animal videos posted online.
In the wild
Wild hedgebirds can be found in dense forests with thick undergrowth, which they use to hide from predators. They eat animals like beetles, worms, and caterpillars—although they've been found tentatively trying to eat new things they encounter. Explorers by nature, they rarely settle down, and instead prefer to sleep in a new place every night. They tend to cover themselves in leaves or dirt in the night, but it's not unusual to see them sleep in other animals' dens. When they do so, they make sure to bring a bunch of worms (usually half-eaten) as payment. As pets
Hedgebirds are also bred in captivity to be sold as pets and, even though they're a relatively new pet compared to other animals like batcats and liondogs, they've become a very popular choice among people who want a small animal companion. However, due to their wild nature, they are hard to train too—hedgebird owners report that they keep finding dried-up poop everywhere. They seem to enjoy throwing food out of their place before eating it too, which can make it a difficult pet for people who need a clean environment.
