Circle of Skafrontse
Skafrontse is a harsh land. Claw-like rocks, barren coastlines, tumultuous seas protected by the impressive Towers. But give it some time, and you will find beauty in the cutting rocks and deathly waters... or that's what the locals have told me, anyway. The Circle of Skafrontse is a circular-shaped archipelago located in the south-western corner of Einya. It has always been (and still is) the home of most thanatomancers, in part due to the peculiar views about life and death that the Skafrontseshk hold. The Circle is currently constituted as a country under the name United Islands of Skafrontse (UIS).
Geography
The archipelago has 19 habitable islands, with countless islets scattered all around them. The islands form a rough circle and enclose the Saber Sea, which is used as a quick means of transport between islands. The three biggest islands are Imrasbraf, Shkrarst, and Krasftra, the latest one being also the most populated one and having the capital city of the UIS (which bears the same name). The Towers
The Circle is surrounded by one of the magical wonders of this planet. 243 massive towers form a perfect circle where each one acts like a node of a magical, deathly barrier. This shield has roughly the shape of a dome and prevents anyone from entering the country without the permission of the Towers' stewards. The fact that these stewards are controlled by the thanatomancy school (instead of the UIS government) has caused several interesting conflicts in different occasions.History
The Skafrontseshk are very proud of their roots and their past, which means that it was pretty easy to get information on their history. Apparently, the first skafrontseshk were castaway pirates from Eirean, the eastern continent, which makes sense given that they share some ethnic similarities with the Eireanai. Even though pirates never disappeared until recent times, some of them eventually settled on Shkrarst and founded the first Kingdom of Skafrontse. Several legends of the ages of the kingdoms exist, among which the legend of Frasfrash the pirate seems to be the most popular one. The first historical date seems to be in the 4th century bE, which marks the building of the Towers as a measure to defend the Kingdom. However, the School quickly intervened and added magical defenses, which in turn made the Kingdom depend on the School's resources. This eventually ended with the start of the magocracy, a period that stretched through several centuries. Relevant events from that time include the legalisation of assassin guilds and the war against the Eirean empire, which almost conquered the whole archipelago but was finally defeated thanks to the sacrifice of Virvsatshkra of Skafrontse.
