Phandalin
Phandalin (Pronounced Phan-dul-lin) is a small frontier township area located just South off the Triboar trail and beneath Neverwinter Wood. It is roughly 3 days travel from the city of Neverwinter. Currently governed by the elected townmaster Harbin Wester. Mostly it is just a stop off town for travelers along the Triboar trail as well as miners of the hills that dot the landscape around the area. The town is too small to sustain its own defense force which allowed the Red Brands taking over and suppressing the town until forced out of by adventures.
The town has roots dating back many centuries when it was first established by the Tresendar family but over time the area diminished and the town became abandoned. Hundreds of years ago, the old Phandalin was a thriving human town whose people were firmly allied with the dwarves and gnomes of the Phandelver's Pact. However, an orc horde laid waste to the settlement and Phandalin was abandoned for centuries. About a decade or so ago, the town was reestablished by frontiersmen and regained its inhabitants. Hardy settlers from the cities of Neverwinter and Waterdeep have begun the hard work of reclaiming the ruins of Phandalin. A bustling frontier settlement has grown up on the site of the old town, and is how now to farmers, woodcutters, fur traders, and prospectors drawn by stories of gold and platinum in the foothills of the Sword Mountains.
This modest-sized town is comprised of some fifty buildings in the town center, most of which show signs of regular upkeep. Farms and an apple orchard mark the outer edge of town, with houses and shops closer in.
