Noah

Noah was the agent of Tur'Loth the Demon of Pride in the mid 90s. Along with his friend, Dustin he served as part of the Sacred Well Circle for several years, and he thought that he was doing something important. One day, he realized that it wasn't that he was doing something important, but rather that he was something important was being taken from him. All of his youth, his innocence had been spent in service of the Circle, and all he had left was emptiness and fear. The things they had asked him to do kept him up most nights now. He knew that they had to run, or they wouldn't survive.   Noah and Dustin decided to run away from the Circle and Blackwell altogether one night. They ran to an old cabin in the woods and waited until morning. Surely they would be safe until then. Suddenly, the front door of the shack blew open, and there stood Ograth. He came sauntering in like he was walking into a bar. Dustin was terrified. He knew that Ograth had no intention of letting him escape. Noah knew that Tur'Loth wouldn't be far behind. He tried to jump out of a window, but sure enough, there he was. Tur'Loth.   The boys were in full panic at this point. there was no way they would get out alive. Then, miraculously, Ograth turned his back and left an opening for them to escape. Noah didn't think twice, grabbed Dustin, and bolted for the door. The boys made it out and didn't stop running until they felt as if their lungs would explode. It wasn't until they had gone quite a ways and Noah had a chance to think that he realized: "Ograth let us escape. They're enjoying watching us struggle."   The thought had scarcely left his mind when Ograth leaped from the shadows and grabbed Dustin. Dustin kicked and screamed; he pleaded with Ograth, but it was no use. Ograth had caught his prey. The demon sliced a huge gash in Dustin's abdomen and blood poured everywhere. Noah hadn't seen a knife on him, but the wound looked as if it had been made with a butcher knife. Noah stood transfixed for a moment, then managed to tear himself away and flee. He had no real hope of getting away, he just knew he couldn't stand idly by and be next.   Noah ran with the mocking laughter of the demons behind him. He ran, tears of fear and pain running down his face. At last, he saw a building. Something inside him screamed for him to run inside. He ran with the last bit of energy that he had for the door. There was someone coming out, maybe they could help him. He ran up the stairs of the building and collapsed on the stranger's feet. He all but passed out right there.   The pastor of a small church right on the edge of Blackwell was closing up the church building and leaving for the night. He felt an uneasiness that he couldn't quite pinpoint, so he double-checked all the locks and walked out cautiously to his car. And that's when he saw it; a young man in a dead sprint for the door of the church with two evil-looking men in hot pursuit. He didn't know what was going on, but he wasn't having any of it. The young man collapsed at his feet and the two men pursuing slowed their approach. The pastor just stood his ground and gripped his Bible tighter.   Ograth and Tur'Loth had been keeping an easy pace, laughing the whole way. Taunting this human was so much fun. They would soon kill him, then go back and recruit the next two to take the places of these worthless rejects. All of a sudden, the human went to the forbidden place. They slowed their pace as they cautiously approached. The two demons saw a bright light pouring out of the front and a figure holding a brilliant sword. Damn. This had been so much fun up to now, but there was no sense in fighting one of these. Ograth and Tur'Loth retreated back into the shadows and returned to the Circle. There was still recruiting to do.   Noah's breathing finally returned to a somewhat normal rate. His chest no longer felt like it was on fire, and his vision returned to normal. When he was able to focus again, he realized that he had a firm grip around a total stranger's foot. He looked up, horrified to find out who it might be, to see a warm smiling face looking down at him. "Nice night for a run, huh?" The man was still smiling, but there was a look of concern in his eyes. Noah let out a half-hearted chuckle and then a deep sigh of relief.
