They grow up so fast
She had to move her children for the tenth day in the row. Something was on their trail and she was frightened.
Finally, they came to a wide river. If she could find shallow water to cross with her children, their scent will be lost. That would probably buy them some time. She was searching continuously and slowly losing hope, when finally there it was - a place where her little ones can cross safely to the other side.
Afterwards, they continued to move. She could not risk stopping, not until she was certain that the beast lost them. A night came, so they hid like they did so many times before. She was still looking, listening for any sign of the beast. This time they were safe, the river helped them, it seemed.
She was familiar with this part of the land. After all, it was the place where she spent most of her life before moving south with her partner. She missed him so much, he gave his life so that their three children could live and for that she will honour him until her last breath. They found each other soon after she left her home, he was bathing in the river, the same river they crossed not so long ago. He was beautiful, her heart skipped a beat. When their eyes met, it was love at first sight.
They spent all their free time with each other, dancing and singing from dawn till dusk.
But now her priority were her kids, two boys and a girl. Soon, they will each go their separate way, but for now they were still her little children.
For the first time in a while she slept in peace. In the middle of the night, she heard some noise and opened her eyes. The children were watching her. Was it time? No, it cannot be, it is too soon, they nodded and went back to sleep.
The kids were growing up, becoming stronger each day. Most of the days now they were spending playing with each other, running, singing. They needed more and more food, and she was struggling to provide.
They were all playing in the filed when the boy charged at her. She knew it was time, she would soon join her partner.
He pushed her to the ground, attacking her with his beak and ripping her with his talons. They were so sharp that, with each rip, the pain was getting more intense. The two girls joined their brother. Soon it will be all over, but that is a cycle of life.
As she did this to her partner when the children hatched from the eggs - so they would have their father's strength for the first part of life - so did they to her now, to gain strength for the first flight. This was nature, nothing personal.
They shrieked in a sharp, piercing call, and spread their golden wings. They were ready for fledging, so they ran and took the first flight.
