Mor Sectum
"May the gods smile upon this great city." - Mor Sectum Resident
Mor Sectum is the current capital of Rocturra, named after the original settlement the first elven migrants built back in the Ancestral Era. Initially known as Mor Irdakoll, it was renamed after the original capital was destroyed in a violent fire. Today, the renamed city serves as the capital of Rocturra, housing the queen and the countries government.
History
Founding
The city that would become the modern-day Mor Sectum was founded under the name Irdakoll in 3494 AE. The settlement was nothing more than a few isolated shacks until it was brought under Queen Mulloran's growing kingdom that sought to unite the scattered elves. In the years following the village's induction into the queen's union, Irdakoll would flourish thanks to its sustainable agriculture and its hillside location providing a solid defensive position. As the centuries passed, Irdakoll became a flourishing city that housed the second largest population of elves on the continent, beaten only by the capital, Sectum.Sectum Wildfire
With so few survivors of the disaster, there is little information regarding what happened on that fateful day. What is known is that an uncontrollable fire broke out within the city that the city's residents had little hope of stopping. Estimates suggest that only 30% of the residents escaped the fire, including the royal family and the majority of the parliament. The Grand Mulloran Palace and the archives of the Orkina Temple were burned to the ground, wiping out centuries of Roctane history. Rocturra fell into disorder for six months with the capital destroyed while the government attempted to reorganize. As Queen Neminna tried to rebuild Rocturra's government, the nation was put on high alert if Derraken were to invade. However, Derraken instead offered aid to the weakened country as a gesture of peace and unity. As this was occurring, efforts to rebuild the capital were abandoned due to the high cost. Once relocation plans were finalized to relocate the capital, Mor Irdakoll was renamed Mor Sectum in 1122 1E, and construction of a new royal palace and parliamentary building began. By 1123 1E, the royal palace and the Okress were completed, turning the city's eastern district into the nation's governmental grounds. Since the relocation, independent efforts to rebuild the original capital have been made. Still, even in the second era, the wildfire's scars keep it from regaining its former glory.Points of Interest
Alkinree Palace
Known as the "Steel Queen's Palace," Alkinre Palace is the home to Rocturra's royal family. The extravagant palace began construction in 1122 1E and was fully finished in 1123 1E. The palace stands as a symbol of Roctane resilience, as even after a catastrophe wiped out the original capital, the royal palace rises again stronger than before. The Okress
Connected to the royal palace is the Okress, the meeting grounds for Rocturra's government officials. Within this building, a parliament made up of seventy officials, with ten officials representing each of the provinces of Rocturra, votes on policies in which the queen has the final say. Other duties of the representatives include the voting in of new members and the selection of a new monarch if there are no legitimate heirs to the throne. Also involved in policy making is the Eccrata Isul, Rocturra's military representative, who has the power to veto any policy that they believe would interfere with military interests.Tekra Letsivir
Once a temple dedicated to the Ancient God of Thought, it was converted to serve as the administrative sector of the Orkina Faith. Officials responsible for organizing and maintaining Orkina sects gather to perform their duties. The Temple and Rocturra's government operate separately to prevent their interests from interfering. After its conversion, the temple became a ground to venerate all the Ancient Gods rather than just Ensarra.
