Kalyrian Triarchy
The Kalyrian Triarchy is a kingdom in western Tembra ruled by three co-monarchs, each taking priority in established areas of policy. Its capital city is Toredos. During the War for the Light, it was a rival of the kingdom of Valysera, as both kingdoms commanded great militaries and enjoyed successful economies. The Triarchy was especially successful navally due to its much larger coastline and Valysera's almost landlocked state. It therefore also had closer relations to the island of Eremere.
Structure
The leadership of the triarchy consists of three kings, elected for life by the rich and powerful. These kings each control a different area of policy.
The king assigned to the economy is often a wealthy merchant, or a relative of one, who has achieved great things from their accumulated wealth in the field of politics. He deals with all matters of the economy, such as trade, taxation, and spending, the latter of which he works closely with the social affairs king on.
The military-oriented king is usually a general of great distinction, having served in the army of the triarchy for many years prior to their election. It is not unusual for the king chosen to have served with or for the previous king. This role is in charge of military actions such as invasion, defence, the navy, training, and the makeup of the army and its top brass.
The final king, the one who manages social affairs, is not strictly hereditary, though has been passed from father to son for many decades. It is a position that manages relations between the people and the government and is ridiculed by its critics as a glorified press secretary or spin doctor.
