Richard Dyer is the earl of Great Gardens in Springmore, ruling from Dyer Hall. Through his late sister Nemara, he is brother-in-law to Reginald Ravenwood.
Although by the 990s Richard withdrew from wider politics, he is best known for leading for the earl which called for the deposition of High Earl Ambrose Brawnby in 977.
