Plug

Straddling a creek called Slew Water is a busy village of loggers and woodcrafters. The village also handles the output from the upstream logging settlement of Snee. Several retaining ponds maintain flow for the two watermills which process the logs into sawn boards. Holding both water and floating logs ready to be guided to the workers inside. These mills process mostly cabinet grade woods which are loaded onto large wagons and shipped all over the kingdom. Some furniture makers work out of Plug, but due to the rough roads transporting finished products is likely to damage them. Most build durable goods instead or components to be finished elsewhere. Homes in Plug make use of the vast quantities of waste scrap generated by the mills and workshops. Walls are thick and filled with sawdust and shavings for insulation. Close to the mills, a brickworks was built. Instead of bricks of clay for building, they pack wet sawdust into molds and compress them into logs for burning once dried. Tucked into the woods like Plug is, it also makes a hub for foragers and collectors. Nuts, herbs, furs, and when in season various berries are just a few of the things brought in. Plug might seem like a great place for people willing to work hard to start a home. As of late, there have been problems with the goblinoid tribes. Usually, they stay deeper in the forest, but altercations with loggers have been on the rise, especially north of Slew Water. Relations with deep woods foragers seem to have remained cordial, even in places where loggers have been chased away. Foragers have even been able to recover tools and workhorses to the loggers. Despite that, the goblinoid chiefs do not seem willing to negotiate a truce. The goblins in particular were very reluctant to meet with anyone. Through a forager that had at least civil interactions with a few of them, they learned about a tribal problem with a few of their sacred sites. The orcs were more willing and were planning a Moot where it could be discussed before making a veiled threat to burn the village of Snee to the ground. The official word from the capitol was simple: the frontier settlements must have angered the forest tribes, and they had best settle it themselves.
