Skyfall contest fairytale

The first people to start proclaiming the end of the world being caused by the moon falling were the usual crackpot apocalypse mongers. In time more reputable oracles reported a similar prophecy. As months became years it became known as the Skyfall Prophecy. What struck the thinkers as odd is just how sudden and widespread oracles and fortune-tellers reported it. It wasn’t limited to just one, and others parroting the same words. Rumors began to fly about higher powers, gods, transplanar influence, and even the Alvar being the cause of such a consistently reported prophesy. A popular fairytale during the time concerned the long-retired Alvar. The story begins with an elderly Alvar reminiscing about contests they took part in during their youth. So they make an invitation on a scroll woven from sunbeams and written with a pen made of stars. They fold it into a kamifusen and send it into the sky where it glows and disappears to long sparks that fly through the air. That night everyone sees a spark fly through the sky in their dreams which fills them with an urge to play a game about kicking a large ball. The ruler of a land is so overcome with the dream that they send heralds to spread the news a competition would be held with a prize for the winning team. Just before the prize is about to be awarded, a spot in the sky gets brighter and brighter. Throwing sparks in all directions it crashes to the ground in one of the game fields. When the dust settles a team clad in a golden radiance challenges the winners for the survival of the world. The game is played with a silvery ball and lasts into the night with no points scored by either team. As the sun rises the next day, the ball rises into the sky and the golden team begins to fade away. As they disappear they proclaim them worthy of playing the sport and to watch for their next invitation. All the players of the team that the celestial team played against lived the rest of the year especially blessed. Every one mysteriously disappeared on the anniversary of the game.
