Gorman Keep
The castle that stands in Galu wasn't always property of the Gorman House. In fact, prior to that, it used to be the Oakling Church, where the Council of Oakling made decisions. This way, it functioned as Galu's religious center. Standing high on a man-made hill, the keep symbolically oversees everything that happens in the city. The inhabitants of Galu, especially those in Darkhapel, view the keep as the epitome of the city's tyranny; a rigid stronghold designed to enforce the iron will of the Gorman house and the harsh rules of the Oakling Council.
Purpose / Function
The original purpose for the building, when it was still the Oakling Church, was to host the meetings of the Council of Oakling and a variation of a town hall.
But after the house of Gorman took over leadership of Galu, the keep's purpose became more of a military kind instead of religious. It hosts several training functionalities for the Galunian guard force and is its central point. Gorman Keep is now the home of the ruling family, who makes decisions here about the future of Galu.
Alterations
When the Oakling Church changed owners and became Gorman Keep, some noticable changes were made. Mostly in terms of religious features that became more military.
The layout of the keep became different, the colors of the Gorman house were visible almost everywhere. Most of the religious symbols and images were removed, but not all, because of a strict rule the Council has made. After all, Galu is still highly religional.
The Gorman Keep gained inner grounds, which hosted barracks and training spots for the guard force of Galu. In fact, Gorman Keep became a center of the Galunian military, which wasn't present before.
