The Horn of Faestir

Our horn has been part of our clan for millennia. The fact that it has been on this altar for that long is not a sign of futility, but the knowledge that we have a promise to follow.
Zykroff Faestir, Bronze Matron of the Faestir Clan

Creation of the Horn

Before the Second Warring Era began in the year 4890, the metallic dragon clans and Giant societies in Haidfonn had a bond like no other. Their alliance was one of the strongest in the entire continent, and no geopolitics could come between them.   The bronze dragon clan of the Faestirs was particularly well bonded with the Fire Giants of Druma. So close in fact, that in the year 3870, their alliance was immortalized through the Horn of Faestir. The Faestirs are made up of strong-hearted dragonborns and their dragon leaders, but the Fire Giants were fighters and defenders leagues above them. In order to give the Faestirs a possibility of survival, the Fire Giants forged a magical horn that could reflect the user's will to be heard in the volume. So whenever the Faestirs blew the horn during a difficult time, its sound came bellowing through the coastal mountains of Druma and the Fire Giants would immediately emerge battle-ready to aid their friends.   The Horn was a testament to the remarkable lack of pride the Faestirs had, who never shied away from asking help, and the strong support that Fire Giants of Druma always carried out.

The Dragon-Giant Separation

During the Second Warring Era, in the year 5239, the chromatic dragon clans of Kibitann attacked Haidfonn. The Faestirs were heavily outnumbered, and the Fire Giants quickly came to help upon hearing the horn, that according to legends was audible from southwest to northeast of Druma. The losses were heavy on both sides, but the chromatic dragons retreated at last 3 years later.   The same happened with other dragon clans and giant societies, but in particular, the Faestir clan and the Fire Giants would never be the same. In a great council meeting in 5245, the metallic dragon clans decided to leave Haidfonn behind in order to keep a close eye on the chromatic dragon clans in Kibitann. This meant breaking the ties with the Giant societies.   The Fire giant leader and the Faestir dragon leader met one last time. The Faestir wished to return the horn, but the Fire Giant instead needed the Faestir to make a promise.
Keep the horn and hold it forever. But when you blow it, we can only hear it, we can't reach you in time. Promise me that you'll raise your strength to meet ours, so you will never need to use the horn again to call for aid. The horn will be your memory of our strength and your reminder to reach it.
So the Faestir clan kept the horn, and ever since they settled down in Woorenadonie to keep an eye on the Dragon Clans in Swame, they focused on improving their strengths and never blew the horn again.   It now sits on an altar in the main Faestir temple, and will remain there for as long as the Faestirs need to protect the world from the chromatic clans.
