Kovan, God of Glory

Overview

Kovan is the courageous God of Glory and Battle. As a lord of war Kovan is highly adventurous and competitive, gladly taking and issuing challenges of all kind. It is because of his military genius, physical prowess and ingenious fortifications that the Gods managed to defeat their foes time and time again. Under his watchful eye mortals train their bodies, hearts and minds in the art of war and battle. Likewise he blesses mortals with a courageous heart and adventurous spirit so that they too can become icons of legend. His touch instills bravery, his smile grants victory in life and his embrace glory in death. His blessing empowers the weapons and armor of the worthy, while those that spur his ire find them rusted and shattered.
He is depicted as a plate wearing warrior, his armor lined with furs and dozens of trophies. His brown hair and beard are kept short and a large scar runs down the right of his face, a gift from Krava. He wields numerous weapons and since the Age of Dragons has been depicted as standing atop a Dragon's head.

Followers

His followers are adventurous and ever competing for his favor. Many of them prefer a glorious death on the battlefield over dying of old age in a bed. While most engage in physical activity and training, battlefield tactics and maintenance of equipment is of equal importance. While many focus on the physical aspects, those not strong enough find Kovan's blessing by becoming master tacticians. While some would treat their weapons and armor with utter reverence his followers know that they are merely tools and that tools are meant to be used. In times of war all cry out for his favor and rival armies seek to prove themselves worthy of his blessing.. It is considered a great honor to be slain on the field of battle by a rival priest, this priest is expected to personally see to the burial of his competitor and ensure a proper send off to the fields of Glory. To facilitate his highly competitive following annual tournaments and competitions are held in Kovan's name during times of peace. His followers are bold adventurous, warriors, mercenaries, tacticians, generals and kings.
Favored Weapon: Kovan is unique amidst the Gods in that he adores all weapons and knows that not every weapon is right for the situation. His favoured weapon depends on the race worshiping him. Elves claim he favor the bow, Dwarves claim he favors the battleaxe and shield, Orcs and goliaths claim he prefers the greataxe, humans say he prefers the greatsword while halflings and gnomes claim he loves the shortsword.

Temples

His temples are grand fortified locations of heavy stone with a personal armory and open air training ground with a large statue of Kovan looking over the grounds. It is considered a sign of ill omen if the statue's steel blade rusts over. His largest temples however are temple fortresses with stables and a smithy surrounded by a curtain wall. The local priesthood is expected to complement the army of the local noble in both offense and defense.

Hone your body and mind into perfect instruments of warfare, though never engage in senseless slaughter.  
Seek glory in all aspects of life, battle and death yet do not die foolishly or needlessly.  
Accept all challenges, save those too foolhardy to survive.  

Relations

He is the lover of Zelya which puts a strain on his relationship with his father and mother, Zargov and Krava. Morska is his twin and both frequent battlefields together. He councils all Gods in the art of war, often working with Scirri as means of unleashing war upon the world.
