Scirri, Goddess of Desire

Overview

Scirri is the jealous Goddess of Desire and Trickery. She is the greatest trickster among the Gods, ever taking on new appearances and utilizing magic as means of taking what she wants and disrupting the lives of her enemies. The shadows are hers to command and from within she plots, schemes and obscures all that can't stand the light. Ever vigilant she watches with glee at the chaos her plans unleash. The Night she brings forth so that all can rest, dream and act unrestrained without fear of judgement. She thought mortals how to lie, steal, cheat and seduce in order to attain that which they desire from others and entertain her in doing so. Her smile inspires mortals with ambition and the will to act on their whims while allowing them to forget that which haunts them. Her touch gifts them magic and frees them from their bonds and obligations, her intoxicating kiss gifts a silvered tongue, her embrace shelters all from the light and her guidance leads them through the dark. Those that spark her ire find their lives steadily ruined, until they become mere shadows of their former glory and esteem.
Scirri is usually depicted as a raven-haired beauty covered in ornate jewelry with a cloak of midnight inset with dim stars. She carries with her a series of ornate mask, holding her favorite golden mask in hand. To those she wishes to aid she appears as a younger beauty and to those she despises she haunts as an old crone. As a trickster and shapeshifter she is known to take many forms, as such she is sometimes depicted as having a featureless face.

Followers

Many of her worshipers have desires that can not be fulfilled within otherwise normal societal conduct, seek to reverse their own misfortunes, are jealous of others or suffered crippling setbacks. They seek to subvert their own fate with blatant disregard for laws and traditions, resorting to illegal activities. Some however simply give in to their every whim and fancy, as hedonists seeking to live life to the absolute fullest. The most cruel among them gladly destroy the lives of others so that they may come out on top, usually by shifting the blame towards others. The kindest among them protect the common man against those that wish to impose their will on them, undermining tyrants by stealing their riches, freeing the wrongfully imprisoned and setting loose slaves. As she is quite literally the mother of Magic, many Mages who seek power over others via magic, especially illussionists are also drawn to her teachings. Yet also anarchists and those looking out for themselves first and foremost pray for her aid. Those drawn to her cloaked embrace are all that desire something that they do not have are ambitious beyond their limits or yearn for more, spies, cheaters, bandits, thieves, liers, hedonists, merchants, artisans, mages, vigilantes, freedom fighters, commoner and noble alike all find their way towards her.

Temples

Her faith is outlawed in most lands, as such they are organized as independent cells with personal shrines amidst private chambers, criminal hide-outs and the caverns of the world. Within the Underdark she is revered by many who can't stand the sunlight and enjoys opulent and dimly lit cathedrals with a central statue of hers beckoning all towards her dark embrace.

Relations

Scirri is married to Kruzec whom she seduced under the guise of Zeya, and while they are happy now, her tricks can strain their relationship. Lutko is their child born out of deceit and love. She loves both dearly but her mischievous nature often strains their relationship with Kruzec, though both see her as a useful ally. She despises Zelya ever since the moon allowed her to dominate the night as a shining beacon. Alric is her brother who she loathes and is on bad terms with as both strive for drastically different goals.
