Gaius van Vedrix

Gaius van Vedrix (a.k.a. the Exiled)

Prior to fleeing to Shogax, Gaius was a member of House Vedrix, a wealthy Astrican family of spellcasters. Like all members of the family, Gaius was taught and trained on how to use his unique abilities, eventually becoming the family's cleric. Outside of healing injured guards and sick villagers, Gaius also served as a diplomat for the family, where he learned about the family's many enemies and rivals, with most of the hatred towards the family's ability to use magic. Out of all them, the most notable was House Corvus.
Although most conflicts with House Vedrix ended with name-calling and empty threats, the family would soon meet its demise following an incident where Gaius and his entourage were ambushed by Corvus assassins. During the skirmish, the heir of House Vedrix and several guards are killed, forcing Gaius into using "forbidden magic" and resurrecting his group. A few assassins would escape and share the news of what they had saw.
Several days later, an angry mob of Astricans led by House Corvus would gather at the Vedrix estate. The family was largely divided on what to do next, many wished to fight back if needed, while others wished to escape without harming the mob. The guards would soon be overwhelmed and the mob would storm into the estate. In the ensuing chaos, several members would hold back the line whilst Gaius and several others would escape, never to return Astrica. Gaius would soon be separated from the others and would eventually sneak on a ship to Shogax, where he has since kept in hiding.

Gaius fled to Shogax following the brutal massacre of his family. Although, it is unknown if there are any other survivors of House Vedrix, Gaius has largely kept himself hidden from the world, swearing vengeance.
