The Reclaimed Coast

"By the blessings of Saelus, we have returned."
- Captain of the Plentiful Harvest, one of the first ships of colonizers to arrive to the Coast.
The Reclaimed Coast is a 200 mile long stretch of coast that has been inhabited by the Shaerallian colonizers. The area was chosen by early explorers as it had a similar climate to that of most of Shaeral. It was first colonized in 940 AC, by a joint expedition of Astrican and Askertillian colonizers. The expedition was funded in part by private Askertillian investors and the Astrican Empire. The first colonial wave brought over a total of twelve hundred colonizers. The Reclaimed Coast is seen as a promise of true freedom and indepedence, thus making it an appealing target for those who are seen as outcast, those who seek a new life, or those who simply wish to truly carve out their own path. Several years before the main colonization effort, a dozen small teams of explorers landed on the continent to begin early mapping efforts. Only one team returned.

Geography

The coast is generally heavily forested. Paths have been cleared for crude roads. Heading south, the temperatures begin to rise, giving way to lush jungles to the South and misty, damp wetlands and swamps to the South-West. Explorers are unsure how deep the jungle is, and those who have attempted to map it out have proven unsuccessful thus far, never returning.    To the North of the coast, temperatures begin to fall. Just pass the Forge Mountains, rolling steppe break free, and beyond that, a harsh, unforgiving land of cold and snow.
